Before Valve released Team Fortress 2, the scout was the first class they were working on at the time trying out a more stylized approach to the game. Dhabih working for Valve as an artist, didn’t want them to release his work to the public. In a recent TF2 blog published by Robin Walker, he explains to us four concept arts for the scout class. Now I must say, after playing TF2 for a long time now, I could never see these concepts being implemented in the game especially the first and third image but the fourth image I’m used too, we all are. Head over to the TF2 Blog site and check out the images. Here at compLexity, we would like to know some of your feed back on Dhabih scout concepts.

New Norwegian top CS team created

January 29th, 2009

The two famous Norwegian CS profiles noLA and prb has together with OmeN started up a new top Counter-Strike team in Norway. The team picked the very controversial name Team Matrix, but has nothing to do with the Internet café or with the old Swedish Matrix team that consisted of famous players like ScreaM and SpawN. The new Matrix line-up includes stars of the former XpreZ team.

The new matrix line-up consists of:

Martin ‘OmeN’ Moskvil
Kristian ‘mICROVAN’ Nyborg
Preben ‘prb’ Gammelsæther
Mats ‘noLA’ Nygren
Pavo ‘pavo’ Lindstrøm

Fragbite has also made a really short interview with the teams manager KejsareN where he states that he is happy with the new team and believes that they will do well in the next to events they are attending (Infected and The Gathering). He also says that he understands the people that think they are “taking” the name, but he believes that this doesn’t in any way ruin what Matrix once was and nobody will forget the famous players from the old team.

Leipzig Games Convention Ends

January 29th, 2009

Originally scheduled to take place in late August was the annual Leipzig Games Convention. However, it was recently announced by Leipziger Messe who is the Convention’s organizer that the convention will not take place this year. The reason for the abrupt cancellation was the German publishers have decided to replace the event with Koelnmesse’s GamesCon. Koelnmesse’s GamesCom will take place during the exact dates the original event was going to take place — August 19th-23rd.

Fear not though, the Games Convention will still have an online event that will take place on from July 31st – August 2nd and will feature browser, mobile and client based games. The CEO of Leipziger Messe, Wolfgang Marzin had this to say: “This is a completely new and fully independent product for a market that is adjusting to new business models, setting off along new sales routes and appealing to new target groups. Browser, client and mobile games are on course to becoming a big success story and in that way, the Games Convention Online is like the GC – Games Convention when it first began. We are delighted that as trade fair organisers, we can again accompany this development too.”

Moon to make 16,000€?

January 29th, 2009
Moon has been tipped by GosuGamers to be joining professional Starcraft team WeMadeFox.

According to GosuGamers sources, Jae Ho ‘Moon’ Jang is set to be the new addition to the Korean team starting from February 1st with a monthly salary of an alleged 16,000€.

Last year Korean team KTF was rumoured to have made an offer for the Korean, an interest Moon confirmed in a recent 1on1 interview with Michal “Carmac” Blicharz here on SK Gaming.

The fifth race opted for an extension of his MYM contract however, but once again a Korean Starcraft team is apparently keen to swipe the Night Elf player. If the rumours are true Moon will be joining the likes of Lee ‘NaDa’ Yoon Yeol and Park ‘Mind’ Sung Gyoon, and his new team could set him up nicely for an eventual transition to Starcraft 2.

W3Games Announced

January 28th, 2009

The upcoming 2009 WorldWide Web Games Championship series will be officially underway with a $400,000 prize pot and will attempt to turn some of the world’s casual gamers into gaming all-stars. The founding companies GSN and WorldWinner have decided to bestow this great competition among the casual gamers of the world and call it the W3Games. It should be interesting to see what type of devotion and training is needed to be a champion of casual games. The Champsionship series will be a year long event and will feature the following game titles: Wheel of Fortune, Big Money, Solitare Rush and Bejeweled 2.

Chief Marketing Officer of WorldWinner and Senior Vice President of Marketing for GSN Digital Christian Meyer had this to say about the W3Games:

“The W3Games is our way of challenging every game lover out there – from the stay-at-home mom who has perfected her Wheel of Fortune skills to the computer programmer in Dallas who has mastered Bejeweled 2 – to prove they’re the best of the best in their given game. It’s only fitting that we’re kicking off the series with Solitaire, the game that arguably created the casual games category and is consistently the most popular game on WorldWinner. Now, 20 years later with more than 100 million people playing online games every month, we’re ushering in a new era of competitive entertainment.”

Best of luck to all gamers who compete.
