Tonight, coL had a defining night of CS, taking out Loaded in the Lower Bracket Finals of the CEVO Season 11 playoffs. However, their shining moment was in the Grand Finals as they took on EG in a best of three series.
In the first map of the night, coL and EG squared off on de_train. From the get-go, coL looked to have wiped the slate clean, forgetting about their 16-10 loss to EG the night before. Taking the first pistol round, coL took it to EG, throwing in a lot of aggressive manuevers which really looked to knock EG back a bit. With solid play by Irukandji and dboorN, coL grabbed on to lead and never looked back, winning the half by a score of 12-3. In the second half, EG was able to claw there way back behind solid play by Lurrpis and n0thing. However, the hole was too deep for EG, as coL was able to finish out the match by a score of 16-9.
In coL’s map choice, de_inferno, coL.cs started out extremely strong, taking the pistol round on an aggressive play by dboorN. From there out, it was all compLexity on CT side. The combination of teamwork and raw skill was too much for EG, as they were quickly taken down while entering any site that they decided to go to. However, once EG regained their composure, they were able to claw their way back, bringing the half to a respectible 10-5 in favor of coL. In the second half, the true CEVO champions were crowned as coL absolutely demolished EG, taking yet another pistol and the subsequent rounds that followed, with the exception of a solid clutch by Jordan “n0thing” Gilbert to keep EG in the mix. coL, however, proved to be too strong as they took the match, the series, and the championship with a 16-8 win.
Next up for coL is the WCG USA Finals in New York City. The team will be leaving tomorrow and will be looking to bring home a victory for the radicoLs, as well as giving themselves the oppurtunity to represent team USA in the WCG Grand Finals in China.
coL.cs and EG are currently live for the CEVO Grand Finals, where the teams are locked in a best of three to decide this season’s CEVO champion. The first map is de_train.
