In a very long day of CS matches, starting at 7am for those on the east coast, coL.cs came into the single elimination bracket after going 3-0 in group play. In the first match of the day, coL was set to take on SoA, an up and coming team with tons of talent. Like the day before, coL rolled through the SoA team in 2 maps, inferno and train. Next up was k1ck. This series proved to be no different as in a similar fashion, coL took the series in two maps behind strong play from Ninespot and dboorN.
For the 3rd round of the single elimination brackets, coL would face their greatest challenge of the event as they took on mTw.dk, one of the favorites to win the whole competition. mTw showed coL while they are one of the worlds best as they easily took coL.cs on de_dust2. On the second map, de_nuke, coL proved they weren’t going to go down without a fight, as they battled their way to an 8-7 lead after the first half after coming out slow. Unfortunately, mTw proved to be too much for the American’s as they took down coL.cs, placing them in the top 4.
Luckily for coL, all hope wasn’t lost as they still had the chance to place top 3 as they took on the loser of the MYM/Millenium match, which happened to be the French Millenium team. Millenium surprisingly chose Tuscan as their map choice, however it proved to be for good reason. Millenium was able to beat coL early, delivering a blow in the form of a dominant CT side. The mountain was too high for coL to come back from, dropping Tuscan by a score of 7-16. In both of the next two maps, coL came out strong, taking down one of France’s best by a score of 16-3 on de_train and 16-11 on de_inferno to close out the series and secure a 3rd place finish.
