It was recently announced that GamerUniversity.com and GoSuFireFlash have teamed up to host the the first of eight DotA 2 Open Series tournaments. Featuring 32 teams, the Open Series will feature $150 in prize money plus placement in the eventual Invitational Series.

So far twelve teams have signed up including Quantic Gaming, Team Infused and, of course, Complexity Gaming.

According to the post:

The first Open Series will be a best-of-one single elimination contest, with the format expanding to best-of-three clashes for the Semi and Grand Finals. A seeding system has been touted to ensure that heavyweight teams avoid each other in the early rounds, but it has not yet been confirmed.

While this is the first tournament in the Open Series, GamerUniversity and GoSuFireFlash have some big plans for down the road. After the initial eight tournaments in the Open Series, there will be an eight team tournament (comprised of the winners from the Open Series) featuring a $10,000 grand prize.

To watch the Open Series, tune in Saturday, June 2nd at 13:00 Eastern Standard Time. GoSuFireFlash will provide live commentary, along with Draskyl and TobiWan.
