Tonight, coL.cs and MoB went head to head in a best of three series for ESL IEM. On the first map, coL took off to a huge lead, taking the first map by a score of 12-3. In the second half, however, MoB clawed there way bay and nearly took the win, only falling a round short. coL.cs was able to take the last round and the match by a score of 16-14.
In the second map on de_nuke, the roles were reversed. MoB took a large lead taking the first half by a score of 11-4 behind solid play by Striker. Unfortunately, coL.cs wasn’t able to fight back nearly as much as MoB did in the first match, losing the map by a score of 12-16.
The third map on de_train proved to be the closest of the night as the round wins went back and forth with both teams taking a 9-6 half, bringing the match and the series into an overtime finish. Unfortunately in OT, coL.cs fell behind losing the first half by a score of 1-4 and wasn’t able to regain their momentum. MoB was able to take the map and the series by a score of 21-18. Good game to both teams!
coL.cs gets back into action tonight against MoB Gaming for the ESL American Championship Qualifier.
With 12 teams vying for the top six spots in the American qualifier, there will be some decent competition in the four groups that make up the qualifiers.
In the same group as coL.cs is MoB Gaming, tonight’s opponent, as well as zetsumei and Area51.
Tonight’s matchup is of the best-of-3 format and courtesy of the match page on ESL’s website, we know that de_inferno was picked by compLexity and de_nuke was picked by MoB.
As well, compLexity vetoed de_tuscan and MoB chose de_dust2. Essentially, that leaves de_train as the likely tiebreaker, but that is unannounced as of right now.
The match is set to start at 8:30 PM EST.
