PlayStation is Poison?

Recentely, the Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez talked about how PlayStation is “poison” on his weekly radio-tv show called Alo
Presidente.

Chavez wants Venezuelan manufacturers to make “educational” toys and dolls. He wants them to replicate original features and replace toys like the Barbie doll that “have nothing to do with our culture.” From his remarks, he seems to be distinctly against the Sony Playstation series of consoles, as he specficially mentions those several times.

Those games they call ‘PlayStation’ are poison. Some games teach you to kill. They once put my face on a game, ‘you’ve got to find Chavez to kill him. – Hugo Chavez, Venezuelan President

Chavez went on to add that any game that “bomb cities or just throw bombs,” are sold by capitalist countries, which in return can build up violence so they can “later sell weapons.”

Last year Venezuela passed a law outlawing the sale of violent video games, which could land you 3-5 years in jail.
