The First Internet Addiction Center Opens

BY Andrew Miesner / August 22, 2009

The first internet addiction center has opened in Fall City, Washington. The program is called reSTART, it is a 45-day program, which will cost you $14,500 and it is not covered by insurance.

Here is the mission statement from reSTART:

The reSTART Internet Addiction Recovery Program is specifically oriented towards launching tech dependent youth and adults back into the real world. Our individually tailored program is designed to assist participants with an Internet and/or computer based behavioral addiction to break the cycle of dependency. Our 45-day abstinence based recovery program exposes participants to a variety of activities and everyday life skills which are often avoided or underdeveloped as a result of excessive ongoing computer, video game play and internet use.

Below are two videos on gaming addictions. The first one is a news piece about a mom concerned about her son and the other is a Game addiction documentary about games such as World of Warcraft and Counter-Strike.
