Glimpses of Good

Katowice, Poland remains to be not so friendly place for the Complexity Counter Strike squad, but there were some glimpses of good today. Including the return of the 2025 Complexity Jersey.

Rookies nicx and cxzi were making their international debuts on LAN at IEM Katowice 2025 Play-in looking to bounce back after a tough showing in online play at Blast Bounty 2025.

Unfortunately, COL drew a team in the opening round that is one of the hottest teams in the world with Liquid or Heroic due up in the next match.

Eternal Fire, currently 7th in the world, proved to be as daunting as advertised, but in the early stages on Anubis COL was looking to play spoiler. A 4-0 start on Anubis had many in NA believing in the red and black with hot starts behind the pistol of JT and the aim of hallzerk.

Leading 6-2 on the T side, the eight round would be the last COL would get as Eternal Fire would run off 11 straight rounds behind 17 kills by XANTARES, looking to be back in the form they showed at Blast Bounty that netted them a runner up finish to Spirit.

In map 2 the match would journey to the newly remolded Train, with Eternal Fire making their first official showing on Complexity's pick. EF started off strong once again with an early 0-2 lead, but in the third round COL came alive sparking an 8 round run.  The half would finish at 8-4 and it looked certain map 3, Inferno, would be coming into play.

That's when the server became Woxic's world. He would not only lead EF on a comeback. but also a map leading 40 kills and 1.73 rating. A times it looked like every flick, every shot changed the momentum of each and every round. No matter the strategy, the pace, the player... Woxic's scope was standing in the door to block the offense of Complexity.

Although Complexity would force not just one overtime, but a second one as well... Eternal Fire in the end would run off four rounds in a row during the double OT session to close out the map 15-19 and sweep the series.

The bright spot for Complexity was newcomer nicx, who would finish Train with 30 kills and a 1.17 rating.

"Obviously the game didn't go as we hoped... on Train we definitely threw. We lost some impossible to lose rounds and that comes down to inexperience as a team. Once we fix those problems I feel like we can beat any of the teams." said nicx post match.

COL faces #10 Team Liquid on Friday, January 31 at 6:30am CT with the loser heading home.
