Today Major League Gaming released a few more details regarding the upcoming MLG StarCraft II season. Building off the previous announcement of the new format and Winter Championship in Columbus, MLG revealed the dates for the rest of its Championship events. After the Winter Championship gamers can look forward to the Spring Championship running June 8-10, the Summer Championship on August 24-26, and finally the Fall Championship on November 2-4. Unfortunately MLG is unable to reveal where these events will take place right now.
The other major announcement made by MLG is pertaining to the prize money available at the Winter Championship in Columbus, OH. For StarCraft II there will be a total of $76,000 on the line. The prize breakdown looks like:
One major difference between this year's prize pool and last year's is that 9th-16tg place now gets prize money. Also note that Consolation matches have be done away with.
With these announcements it's hard not to get excited for this up coming MLG season. Good thing the Winter Season starts off next week with the Regional Online Qualifiers and last the first two weeks of February. After the online qualifiers gamers can get excited about the Winter Arena which takes place on Feb 24-26 in New York City. Once that's done, there's only a month break until MLG Columbus!
