Happy Birthday Sancz

January 17th, 2016

On behalf of the compLexity Gaming family, we’d like to wish our very own Joshua “Sancz” Ballenger a Happy Birthday as he turns 24 today.

One man, one desire… Joshua “sancz” Ballenger has been chosen to save the world, one pixel at a time. Known for wanting to build fragging dynasties but has yet to have the chance to. As the frontman in coL, his ravishing good looks and hawkeye aim brings his 15 years of counter-strike experience full circle. A living legend, no one has ever gripped the mouse the same way before. You should expect nothing less than greatness.

Once again we’d like to wish a very Happy Birthday to Sancz!

Ni Hao Shanghai! coL qualifies for Winter Major!

January 11th, 2016

by Sören ‘Fantasy’ Vendsahm

The boys have done it again! The compLexity Gaming.Dota 2 squad had to walk through a valley after the success story that was The International 5 in the Summer of 2015, once more adjusting the roster. The American-Swedish combo can now prepare themselves for another shot at the big time, traveling to the Mercedes Benz Arena in Shanghai, China to attend the 3 Million dollar event that is the official Winter Major of Valve.

After the loss in the Frankfurt qualifiers, the team had to start from scratch again – but doing so with familiar faces. The American core of Swindle and Zfreek were joined by the Blomdin brothers Limmp and Chessie, former stayGreen and compLexity members in HoN, as well as Swedish support player Handsken.

Early indications of the strength of the new roster were found in the StarLadder qualifier and MarsTV qualifier, but the big test was still ahead of the five coL.Dota pros. The moment of truth came over the past four days, the first real big test of the new year for the compLexity squad. After early jitters against Shazam in the group stages, coL utilized the time in between Day 1 and Day 2 of the group stage to regroup, refocus and revitalize. They cruised through Day 2 without any problems, sporting a 6-0 record with several stomps in their path. The first seed of Group B was secured, but the opponent was not.

That was determined in the early portions of Day 3 with the tiebreaker bout between NA heavy hitters Archon and Digital Chaos. There DC walked away victorious, leaving Archon and coL colliding in the Semifinals – a match with plenty of history. The core of Archon, formerly known as Fire, used to be the nemesis of the compLexity Gaming squad. More than once FLUFFNSTUFF and his boys denied coL.Dota a spot at a LAN final, snatching it away right from under their noses a game away from the promise land. This time was no different, as a marathon session of 130 minutes in Game 1 and a decisive outing in Game 3 pushed Swindle and his crew down to the Lower Bracket with two elimination matches coming up on the all important Sunday.

As Sunday dawned the team got in some unusual prep work with a relaxing round of Bowling, taking their minds and nerves off of the big matches ahead of them The team building exercise worked wonders as coL marched over Shazam with ease, ready to take on DC in the last and final “Winner takes all” game of the Shanghai NA qualifiers.

In epic fashion the two teams went toe-to-toe, swinging for the fences with only one goal in mind – clinching that coveted ticket for the Winter Major. coL got off to a great start, securing themselves the first map on the back of the Blomdin Brothers hitting very, very hard as Mirana (Chessie) and Gyrocopter (Limmp). Emotions ran high with the win, but proceeded to simmer down as coL couldn’t close it out in the next one. DC answered the call, putting on a great showing in Game 2 with Medusa topping the net worth chart throughout the contest. The snake lady was too much to handle in the team fights and so a “GG” was in order. The NA qualifiers came down to the most dramatic way possible – a Game 3 for all the marbles.

<iframe style=”display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;” src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/ilX8pO30i3k?rel=0&showinfo=0″ width=”620″ height=”349″ frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen=”allowfullscreen”></iframe>

With everything on the line both teams put faith in unconventional “off-meta” picks as coL went with their Brewmaster and Lich combination, DC selecting Kunkka and OD to fight their battles. Good laning, great rotations, spot-on decision making and great team fights, everything came together for compLexity’s Dota squad when it counted the most as they methodically picked apart DC in the final game of the contest with calm, structured play and objective based approaches. After only 30 minutes the base of DC was missing two Melee Barracks and a Ranged Barracks, with Invoker and Viper topping the net worth chart by a large margin. Chessie could have done his best Scrooge McDuck impersonation while being 5000 net worth clear of his brother and 7000 clear of the first DC player.

This lead proved to be too much, as Swindle marched his team to a large lead, not getting overzealous, pushing it just enough for the squad to come out victorious in the end. A desperation Hail Mary Rosh attempt by DC followed by a 4-0 exchange sealed the deal, sending compLexity to the Winter Major in Shanghai. The Shanghai Major will begin on March 2nd, 2016.

compLexity CSGO Roster Updates 2016

December 19th, 2015

Today we have more updates to our Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster.

December, a season that is typically one of rest and relaxation, has been unusually busy this year. Next up on our schedule are the MLG Minor LAN qualifiers which begin today. This flurry of activity has created a bit of chaos for the North American CSGO community. We’ve done our best to navigate roster challenges and have decided it’s best to move forward with a bit of a unique arrangement.

Effective January 1st, Kory “Semphis” Friesen and Tim “Autimatic” Ta will no longer be a part of compLexity. After much deliberation, it was mutually agreed that we would sell their contracts. We greatly appreciate the short time they spent with our organization and wish them both the best of luck in the future.

This officially leaves two spots open on our CSGO roster. Management will spend the near future evaluating our options and speaking with top contenders from around the world. We invite professional players to contact our coach, Matt “Warden” Dickens if you are interested in the opportunity. Additionally, we have spoken with ESEA and CEVO and will be maintaining our professional roster slots with Warden remaining as a rostered player.

Due to the timing surrounding these changes we decided to invite two talented players to be substitutes for the time being. We believe both of them have great potential and we’re extremely excited to play with them. We’re also very grateful they are willing to fill in while we evaluate our final roster.

Please welcome:

 Ronnie “ryx” Bylicki
@ryxCSGO
 Hunter “SicK” Mims
@SicK_cs

Ronnie is no stranger to the professional scene and was most recently a starter for Tempo Storm and Conquest. He’s a passionate player with a strong work ethic and desire to win. Hunter is considered to be one of North America’s best up and coming players. He is relatively new to the game but has already established a strong reputation as a great player. We’re honored to be playing with both of them.

Current compLexity CSGO Lineup

Thanks as always for your support.  We are very excited for what 2016 holds for coL.cs and will bring you updates as soon as we have them.

Welcome Home, fRoD!

December 18th, 2015

There are different moments in the lifespan of an eSports organization. Highs and lows; ups and downs; joys and sorrows. When a gaming family has been blessed with 13 years in the space, it has inevitably experienced all of these in abundance.

Today our family gets to enjoy one of the peaks. Call us emotional. Call us sentimental. Today our doubters can call us anything they want because we simply don’t care. Today we welcome home a long lost legend.

“Our roster revamp starts now,” said Jason Lake, Founder and CEO of compLexity Gaming. “In the history of North American Counter-Strike, no player has had a more lasting impact than Danny ‘fRoD’ Montaner. In a day where our scene is a laughing stock, we have decided to awaken the beast and bring back the king of old school. I am confident his wisdom and experience will help us develop the younger players who will complete the squad. Our plan will take time and an incredible amount of hard work, but compLexity is dedicated to bringing America another world championship. We were the last ones to do it and God willing, we’ll be the next. Welcome home, Danny. We’ve missed you.”

Tomorrow we will announce further changes to coL.cs as we ramp up for MLG and other action. We’re incredibly excited about what the future holds and eager to tackle the challenges 2016 will bring. Many of you have been fans for years and we can’t thank you enough for your support. Sincerely… thank you. We’re working harder than ever to re-build “The Syndicate” and invite you to join us on the journey. It’s going to be a wild ride.

compLexity Parts Ways with Heroes of the Storm

December 18th, 2015

Today compLexity is announcing the departure of our Heroes of the Storm Team. Since early 2015 we have supported our Heroes of the Storm division through successful events and painful losses. Unfortunately, following the conclusion of the 2015 Heroes World Championship, individual players have lost motivation, and are now looking to pursue other endeavors.

compLexity General Manager Kyle Bautista had this to say:

“We have thoroughly enjoyed our time with the coL.Heroes squad. Watching them compete on the big stage in Vegas was personally one of the highlights of my year. Unfortunately, as the year drew to a close the team was lacking the drive that is necessary to produce championships. After lengthy discussions we agreed with the team that it was best to part ways and wish them the best of luck in this game, or the next.

As for our involvement in Heroes of the Storm, it is certainly a game we’re keeping our eye on. We’re hoping that Blizzard has big things in store for 2016, and we’re excited to enter the Nexus again, when the time is right.”

compLexity Gaming Coach and Manager Josh ‘Rawrjar’ Kofalt commented with the following:

“”Our time with compLexity Gaming has been a fantastic experience. I truly appreciate the support they had for us. I have great memories to look back on, especially our run at Americas Championship. Thank you for the opportunity to prove ourselves.”

During their time here, coL.Heroes accomplished great feats such as 1st place in the MLG Titan Arena 1, 3rd place Heroes Americas Championship 2015, and 1st place in WCA America 2015 Heroes Open. We thank Josh, Ben, David, Drew, and Phillip for their dedication as members of compLexity.

Happy Birthday Noxious!

December 17th, 2015

On behalf of the compLexity Gaming family, we’d like to wish our very own Kacem “Noxious” Khilaji a Happy Birthday as he turns 26 today.

Noxious is one of the more veteran Hearthstone streamers in the scene, giving entertainment to the masses since closed beta. The avid Blizzard fan made his name as a founding member of Managrind, the inventor of the Randuin Wrynn deck and the leader of the AMENO movement, earning him the fan favorite status. Opposed to other streamers, Noxious has always remained more of a “fun first” player, who isn’t necessarily aiming for the highest legend rank or a 12-0 streak in Arena. In his mind, a perfect day at the Inn is with an unconventional deck, catching people off guard, and triggering interesting board situations. All in all, it’s a joy ride for everyone.

Once again we’d like to wish a very Happy Birthday to Noxious!
