compLexity Fortnite Adds xil

December 30th, 2018

Back in April we opened the compLexity Fortnite division with an impressive squads roster. As time went on, it became clear that solos and duos were the focus of most events. We had to adapt. We made changes to that initial roster and have been carefully evaluating talent since that point. Today, #coLFortnite is proud to announce the addition of a new member to our Fortnite family, Hogman’s duo partner – xil.

Julian ‘xil’ Miller has been Hogman’s primary duo partner for over a month. In that time it has become clear that they have a natural chemistry and have been able to consistently deliver results. The skilled Canadian is looking to prove his worth once more as he and Hogman team up at the WSOE Fortnite event today in California.

Cheer for Hogman and xil at Sunday’s WSOE 3 event and watch it live at twitch.tv/WSOE

Give a warm #coLFamilia welcome to xil, and make sure to stay tuned for another Fortnite announcement next week!

Additions to coL.cs

December 28th, 2018

A roller coaster year comes to a close for compLexity Gaming’s CS:GO division. It was a season that saw the compLexity banner proudly waving on the main stage at the London Major, where our team orchestrated one of the most memorable cinderella runs in recent memory. As time went on it also became clear that further changes would be needed. As a result, we are proud to announce two key additions heading into the Katowice Major.

First, we welcome Ricardo “Rickeh” Mulholland. Rickeh first made his mark in the Australian and Oceanic scenes, before moving to North America as a core member of CLG and most recently Rogue.

“I’m super excited for 2019 with this team,” said Ricardo “Rickeh” Mulholland. “I can’t wait to get started – it’s going to be a super busy and super crazy year!”

Our next addition marks a return to compLexity for none other than the legend himself, Jordan “n0thing” Gilbert. As one of North America’s most experienced players, Jordan returns on a short term contract to bolster the squad through the Katowice Major.

Jordan had this to say:

“I’m back! I’m super excited to be joining compLexity for the IEM Katowice Major run and am super stoked to be repping the compLexity jersey again!”

Our current coL.cs roster:

Manager

Give both our new players a warm #coLFamilia welcome on Twitter and stay tuned for the upcoming Katowice Major in February.

compLexity Welcomes TheoHS and AliasV

November 29th, 2018

Since the start of the card game trend, compLexity Gaming has been involved. First with Hearthstone, then with Gwent, now with MTGA and Artifact. With that much variety in the genre, spreading out the talent is warranted. Today coL is happy to announce two new additions to the roster – one in MTG and one in Hearthstone.

First, we are happy to introduce Eilidh “AliasV” Lonie. A streamer since 2017 after discovering Gwent, Eilidh stuck with card games and streaming ever since. Once the closed beta came out for MTGA, AliasV switched her game, as well as diversifying the game portfolio with paper Magic. The new-found passion for the popular card game quickly spiraled into the competitive aspect of the Wizards of the Coast classic. Currently, AliasV is streaming nearly every day and competes every single week in local Standard Showdown tournaments. Ultimately Eilidh is looking forward to MTGA’s esports plan and attending a paper GP in both constructed and limited.

Our second addition is also awaiting more live events – just in a different capacity. Matthijs “Theo” Lieftink is one of the most known Hearthstone players from the Netherlands. Just a few weeks ago he represented his country in the Hearthstone Global Games alongside other compLexity Hearthstone pro, Tyler. Sadly that journey ended before BlizzCon in the Round of 16, yet Theo is quickly making a name for himself as a consistent streamer. Every single day he entertains his fans and grows his community, an educational environment with high-tier decks and new meta “flavor of the month” decks. Theo leaves a successful 2018 year behind, with his eyes set on 2019 and keeping that trend up.

We ask the #coLFamilia to welcome these two members with open arms and be sure to follow their streams at theohs_ and AliasV, as well as their presence on Social Media to get the latest updates and streaming schedules at @theoHS_ and @AliasVonTwitch.

Announcing compLexity Artifact

November 16th, 2018

The world of esports is constantly evolving. New games emerge, old titles drop off, and new fan bases are created. In our 15 year history, compLexity has always tried to stay ahead of the curve. We strive to diversify our portfolio and represent as many beloved games as possible. We are proud to announce our venture in one of the most exciting new titles, Valve’s upcoming card game – Artifact.

Over the past four years compLexity has had a strong presence in other card game with Hearthstone, Gwent and also Magic: The Gathering, and we are looking forward to yet another installment of card based strategy. As for our initial Artifact squad, we are proud to say that we have nurtured an organic team over time. The five founding members of this division have been bringing home trophies and representing the red and black for a  combined 11 years.

The first of the bunch is coL veteran Jan “superjj” Janßen. Having been with compLexity since March of 2015, JJ has traveled the world and won several tournaments for the brand, both in Hearthstone and Gwent. As a solo player he won the title at both SeatStory Cup 4 and Gwent Open 3, and as a member of a trio he helped bring home the Trinity Series title. He has demonstrated that he is highly motivated, exceptionally analytical, and has a work-ethic rivaled by none. He is eager to claim dominance in yet another game, while also entertaining thousands during his daily streams.

Sharing a similar Hearthstone origin, Tugay “Mryagut” Evsan and Grace “Sylvanhunter” Naces will join the effort to become the most fierce competitors in Valve’s newest game. Each has many years of experience with strategy games, both cards and board games. For Mryagut Hearthstone and high-ranked Chess have been the basis for Mr. Yagut’s analytical and tactical prowess, while his streams have marked him as a relatable entertainer in the space. Grace has been a Magic: The Gathering player for over a decade, concurrently acting as an ambassador to the game in South East Asia and consistently posting strong results in competitions.

Also making the move over to Artifact are the dynamic Gwent duo of Freddy “Freddybabes” Bird and Mark “Petrify” Fittipaldi. Both members were on the forefront of coL’s push into CDPR’s Gwent, but have since taken a step back from that game. For the near future, Freddy will split his time between Artifact and Gwent, as he prepares for the upcoming Gwent Challenger event, having just recently won the trophy at Gwent Open.

For Petrify the love-affair with Gwent died down a bit earlier, his Artifact beta grind has been in full swing for months. Now he is ready to scratch his competitive itch against the best and the brightest in Artifact.

With these five core members, and Connagh “Merchant” Hawkins as a general card game personality, we are excited for what Artifact has in store for us. We will continue to evaluate the scene and further bolster our roster, but the foundation is set with our six long-time members, who will get to work across all three lanes soon.

We will have additional details on new Dota 2 members in the coming days. Thanks for your support of coL.Dota and Complexity.

Complexity Gaming and WinStar World Casino and Resort Announce First-Ever Official Esports Casino Sponsor

WinStar Becomes Exclusive Casino of Complexity Gaming

Frisco, Texas — November 13, 2018 — Complexity Gaming, one of North America’s most elite and longest standing esports organizations, today announced an official partnership with WinStar World Casino and Resort, one of the largest casinos in the world, making it the exclusive casino of Complexity Gaming. This marks the first time that a U.S. esports organization has designated a casino as their official sponsor.

“WinStar is a preeminent gaming and entertainment venue, and we are excited for them to become our exclusive casino partner,” said Jason Lake, Founder and CEO, Complexity Gaming. “This partnership signals a significant shift in the esports sphere toward making competitive gaming entertainment even more mainstream.”

Esports is the fastest growing segment of media and entertainment and is rapidly gaining traction in the U.S., especially among adult audiences. While ages 18 to 34 comprise the largest demographic, esports viewership is beginning to skew older, with nearly one in three esports viewers being between the ages of 35 to 54. Additionally, online streaming platforms, like Twitch and YouTube have a larger audience base — for gaming alone — than HBO, Netflix, and ESPN have combined.

“The high-energy and competitive nature of esports aligns with our focus on creating unique, high-energy gaming and entertainment experiences for our patrons,” said Jack Parkinson, WinStar general manager. “Complexity’s forward-thinking and innovative approach to one of the fastest growing genres of mainstream entertainment is a natural fit as we look toward remaining at the forefront of the gaming industry.”

As part of this partnership, Complexity players will have access to WinStar’s various amenities, including the hotel, golf courses and concerts, and will make routine appearances at the casino and other events, while WinStar has the option to host biannual boot camps and “meet-and-greets,” where Complexity players could interact with fans and train before large events.

In September, the Dallas Cowboys announced WinStar as the Official Casino of the Dallas Cowboys, making it the first-ever NFL team to announce an official casino designation.

Staunchly committed to passion, professionalism, and a player-first mentality, Complexity Gaming has been continuously recognized as a global leader in modern esports.
