The compLexity Gaming family would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to Jonathan “Westrice” Nguyen!

Westrice is a native of California and began gaming at an early age with Halo. In 2010, he got his first taste of League of Legends after receiving an invite through his family members to play. It wasn’t long after he began to play that Riot released the Akali patch and the rest is history. As he climbed the ELO ladders, Nguyen found himself playing under known gaming organizations such as Curse and FXopen e-Sports. With a recent resurgence by coL.LoL, he and his team are currently working to make their way to the LCS World Finals this season.

Beginning today, compLexity SC2’s Kevin “qxc” Riley and Henry “hendralisk” Zheng are in Atlanta, Georgia for the Redbull Battle Grounds.

This 128 player open tournament at Center Stage Theater will be split into 32 WCS format groups – Top 2 from each group will advance through to the 64-player BO3 Single Elimination phase.

Each player that survives Round 1 of the Single Elimination phase into the Top 32 will earn part of the $25k prize pool. Top 16 will collect their share of 4000 WCS points, and the BO5 finals winner will earn an invitation to the Grand Finals in Washington, D.C. 

Format

Group Stage

• Up to 128 players in 32 groups of 4 players each.
• Groups are played in dual-tournament format.
• Matches are best of three.
• Top 2 players of each group advance to the bracket stage.

Bracket Stage

• 64 players in a single-elimination bracket.
• Matches are best of three until Semifinals.
• Semifinals & Finals are best of five.

The last time these two teams faced was in week 5 where coL was able take down Dignitas, giving the team the label of “Blue Shell,” as they’ve become known for taking down the best teams in LCS on any given night.
