compLexity are the 2014 Call of Duty World Champions!

March 31st, 2014

After 3 long days in Los Angeles, California, the Call of Duty Championships presented by Xbox has come to an end, with our very own #coLofDuty coming out the victors! With the win, they will be taking home $400,000 and the Call of Duty Championship Rings, as well as the official title of the best Call of Duty team in the world.

Going into Day 3, coL remained undefeated overall, only dropping two maps the entire event. In the Winners Bracket Finals they took on rivals Optic Gaming in what proved to be an intense gridlock of back and forth action. The match went to a game six where compLexity proved why they are the best team in the world, sweeping the map 6-0 and advancing to the Grand Finals.

The Grand Finals began and ended in what seemed to be a blur, with compLexity quickly taking all 3 maps in the best of 5 series against EnvyUs, who had previously been on a 12-map run through the lower bracket. After the match, both teams shared a moment of congratulations before compLexity was joined by coach Matt “MrX” Morello and Founder & CEO Jason “1” Lake for a celebratory group embrace.

The full list of finalists for the 2014 Call of Duty Championship is as follows:

  • 1st: compLexity – $400,000
  • 2nd: EnVyUs – $200,000
  • 3rd: OpTic Gaming – $120,000
  • 4th: Strictly Business – $100,000
  • 5th: Trident T1dotters – $70,000
  • 6th: FaZe – $50,000
  • 7th: Rise Nation – $35,000
  • 8th: VexX Revenge – $25,000

We’d like to take the opportunity to congratulate our gamers on their victory, as well as a special congratulations to all of the teams that participated in the event. You can watch the World Champion replays and highlights on the Major League Gaming website.

compLexity Welcomes Anger

March 26th, 2014

Today, compLexity Gaming is proud to announce the official signing of Counter-Strike player Todd “Anger” Williams, formerly of iBUYPOWER. Todd will be filling the void left by the departure of Braxton “Swag” Pierce earlier this week. In his new role, Anger will be the aggressive rifler for the team.

Anger has been competing in FPS games for well over 10 years. During his career, he has attended over eight international lans and approximately twenty-seven national lans for Counter-Strike.

Todd had this to say about joining his new team:

As a professional Counter-Strike player it’s an honor to represent the compLexity Gaming brand. If you play Counter-Strike, you know who they are in the North American scene. I have personally competed against my new teammates since the release of Global Offensive and I feel we can achieve great things if we work hard enough. My departure from my previous team was unfortunate as I thought we just started having success. I look to continue what I’ve started in this game and I look forward to my future with compLexity.

Please join us in welcoming Todd “Anger” Williams to the compLexity Gaming family!

Goldenglue Transferred to Team Dignitas

March 25th, 2014

compLexity Gaming would like to announce that we have completed the transfer of Greyson ‘Goldenglue’ Gilmer from compLexity Red to Team Dignitas. Goldenglue, still in high school, will become one of the youngest players in the LCS.

Goldenglue had this to say about the transfer:

First of all I would like to thank all of my teammates for supporting my decision to accept the opportunity I have been given. Jezie, Nk Inc, Impactful, Evaniskus, and Jera have all been more supportive than I would have ever hoped for and I will miss playing with them immensely. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with the compLexity organization and my affiliation with them will always be a large cornerstone of my life.

Finally I would like to thank my loyal fans for supporting me through all these transitions recently and hope you continue to do so.

In the meantime, the compLexity Red team will actively search for a replacement for Goldenglue as they continue to compete in any LCS qualifier events.

Please join us in wishing Greyson the best of luck as he joins his new team and competes in the LCS.

Swag Transferred to iBUYPOWER

March 25th, 2014

Letter to the community

Upfront, I want to personally apologize for how our organization handled the Swag announcement. Sometimes we have an overzealous approach to getting ahead of the news. This is a scenario where that has happened and for that, I again, apologize.

To set the record straight, Braxton “Swag” Pierce was never released from his contract. He chose to no longer play with the players on his team. Due to this, we had to make a substitution for Brax in the other night’s matches, which forced us to remove Brax from the league’s roster. Some of our staff misconstrued that to mean we were removing Brax all together, which was a mistake and never the case. It is very important to note that when a player commits to a contract that commitment needs to be met. The player always has the right to decide to stop playing but they don’t have the right to just freely switch teams. There are mechanisms for player transfers in this business and those mechanisms need to be followed.

I was in the process of speaking with iBUYPOWER when all of this “news” broke the other night. Fortunately, we have come to an agreement in which compLexity will transfer Braxton “Swag” Pierce to iBUYPOWER.

I want to once again stress that I am personally ashamed as to how this was all handled and we will strive to put better checks and balances in place in order to make sure that it never happens again. On a brighter note, the end result was the same and fortunately our bumbling of the situation that night did not change the outcome of this scenario.

Sincerely,

Jason Bass
COO compLexity Gaming

Today, we would like to announce the transfer of Braxton “Swag” Pierce’s contract to iBUYPOWER. Braxton first joined compLexity back in the summer of last year and has played a valuable role in the success of the team over that time.

Swag had this to say about the transfer:

In regards to my departure from complexity, I would like to give Jason Lake special thanks for the opportunity I received to represent such a big name in esports. I also would like to thank my former teammates who contributed to the experience and skills I gained during this time, and wish them the very best of luck.

After careful consideration I have decided to join iBUYPOWER. I believe this is the right opportunity for me and I look forward to playing with these guys as I see great potential in this lineup. Thanks for all the support!

We would like to wish Braxton the best of luck moving forward. Stay tuned as we will be announcing our new 5th within the next few days!

coL.cs Parts Ways with Swag

March 23rd, 2014

Today, we are announcing a change to our Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster.

The squad has agreed to part ways with Braxton “Swag” Pierce. Swag was instrumental in the recent success of the team during the EMS One event in Katowice and will be missed. We’d like to thank Braxton for his hard work, dedication and contributions to the team and wish him the very best in the future.

Thanks as always for your support and stay tuned as we will be announcing his replacement within the coming days.
