Formula1 Makes A Comeback

January 20th, 2009

A familar face to those that have been around for a long time, makes a return to active Counter-Strike duty. Forumla1 was known back in the day as one of West coast’s toughest opponents in the old days of CAL-invite that faded away after many great seasons but has now remerged with old and new teammates.

Brian “Sui” Patrick who has been with the team for quite sometime has decided to ressurect F1 and bringing two former members – Jonny “eng” Faulds and Tristan “Invalid” Bertain, along with him.  To fill in the remaining two members, they have picked up Eric “amico” Massimino and Steve “seijim2” McCormick. The team will be competiting in the upcoming Kode5 qualifier.

I had a chance to sit down with amico and asked him how he felt about coming onboard to Formula1 and how he feels about the team competiting in Kode5.

Well since my run with team Phrenetik I really haven’t felt like i’ve had a place to call home in cs, it’s been about a year since ive played competitively, and many more years for the rest of the guys. I feel like we couldn’t have picked a better lineup to try and come back with, we all personally know eachother and trust that we can excell. As for kode5 I can only hope we get in enough time to prepare for the event. With all the mainstream teams being announced in North America the competition is only growing and growing.

The Formula1 roster is as follows:

Brian ‘Sui’ Patrick
Jonny ‘eng’ Faulds
Tristan ‘Invalid’ Bertain
Steve “seijim2” McCormick
Eric ‘amico’ Massimino

Death of another arcade

January 20th, 2009

Unfortunately, one of the signs of our times is the closing of many arcades around the world.  Recently a big one closed in New Orleans:

The latest victim: New Orleans Novelty.

After more than 30 years running arcades and placing gaming machines at locations around the city, Jack Boasberg is shuttering his business.

“When they make a new machine and it costs the arcade $20,000, people expect to pay a quarter to play it, not to mention they can play all the games on their console at home on their big screens and all, so they don’t even want to go to the arcade anymore,” Wagner said. “So I don’t know what the future holds for arcades.”

Boxer and Savior interviewed

January 19th, 2009

The two Starcraft Giants Boxer and Savior meet for the first time in a double interview. Both players talk about how it is to be a progamer in Korea.

Team Liquid has translated the text to english and about 60% of it has been released.

You 2 are one of the most dominant figures yet you guys are so worried. Shouldn’t the new generation of players be worried about this too?

Boxer: Its the matter of how long he will stay at #1. Age is important but in the world of sports, there is no such thing as a forever #1. However I want to say there are different ways to stay at #1. The only way to do this is to take care of yourself and be professional. If you can perfect these 2, you can stay at the top for a long time.
Savior: You must experience everything. Words are empty, you must experience them yourself. However, I still think it will be hard for me to get back in shape even. Honestly, I don’t remember how it feels to be good again and I want that feeling back. But it will be hard.
