Hero is the new German FIFA 1on1 Champion

VDLFDaniel ‘hero’ Schellhase of SK Gaming has emerged as the german FIFA 1on1 champion at the 21st VDLF event. After coming to a Two to Two draw with Benjamin ‘bEn’ Müller of Hoorai in the first of two matches. Hero was victorious in the final match, winning by a score of One to Nil.

The prizes hero receives are an invitation to the World Cyber Games’ German National Final, a trophy recognizing his accomplishment and a stylish high-end gaming PC, that according to SK Gaming looks like a wardrobe.

ESWC Asia Masters of Cheonan

ESWCThe International E-Sports Group Inc. has announced further details on their ESWC Asia Masters of Cheonan. The event will be part of the Cheonan International E-Sports Culture Festival held in Cheonan, South Korea from May 2nd to the 5th.

This event will feature games such as Counter-Strike 1.6, Warcraft III, FIFA Online 2, Special Force and Starcraft. Players hoping to attend this event will be required to submit applications at ESWC official website, which will then be reviewed by ESWC committee and then they will announce the shortlist of 12 international participants and 4 Korean participants for each tournament.

The Counter-Strike 1.6 champions will receive $30,000 with Warcraft III winners earning $15,000 along with being recognized as the top seed at the ESWC Grand Final 2009.

UT3Today Steam announced that they will be giving out a few free days of Unreal Tournament 3. With the price cut down to $11.99 USD and the name change to Unreal Tournament 3 Black.

This version includes the new v2.0 patch and the recently released Titan Pack Expansion that includes three maps, 16 new environments and a few extra guns.

Originally, you’d have to drop $19.99 for the whole shebang on Steam, but from now ’til March 15, it’s 40% off. And for this weekend only, it’s completely free.

KenKen to Mobile Platforms

Los Angles and London announced today their intention to bring the hit puzzle game, KenKen, to mobile platforms worldwide. The first KenKen game from Capcom Mobile, called KenKen: Train Your Brain!, will feature more than 250 puzzles, and will be available on mobile devices across North America and Europe by the end of April 2009.

In this exclusive agreement Capcom Mobile is honored to be bringing the next big puzzle franchise to mobile devices worldwide,” said Midori Yuasa, president, Capcom Interactive, Inc. “Mobile devices are the perfect platform for puzzles, and we look forward to giving new players and those franchise fans the opportunity to the play KenKen on the go.

The Beatles: Rock Band Announced

Harmonix, Apple Corps. and MTV announced today that The Beatles: Rock Band will hit the market on Sept. 9th. The game will have a reserved amount of new hardware offerings modeled after instruments used by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr throughout their career.

The Beatles: Rock Band will allow fans to pick up the guitar, bass, mic or drums and “experience The Beatles extraordinary catalog of music through gameplay that takes players on a journey through the legacy and evolution of the band’s legendary career,” according to the release.

WICKED eSports acquires HoT and ToD

HoTnToDWICKED eSports has announced they will once again test the Warcraft III scene by acquiring two of the games best players, Mykhaylo ‘HoT’ Novopashyn and Yoan ‘ToD’ Merlo former members of EYE Sports and Gravitas Gaming.

When WICKED eSports lost their entire WC3 team that had qualified for the WC3L Season XV they decided to secure the services of both HoT and ToD after both could not find a team as Gravitas Gaming closed their doors to a WC3 team.

Both players will not be able to compete for WICKED eSports in their upcoming matches in WC3L according to Rule IX.f.

Clans may only acquire players from other WC3L clans in the week before the playdays 1, 5 and 9. Players acquired outside of one of the transfer periods may only play after the next transfer period has passed.

UK Parents Think Gaming is Beneficial

MicrosoftWith Microsoft finished with their second annual Play Smart, Play Safe survey results are in with a overwhelming result from UK parents. Seventy-Five percent of UK parents believe that gaming is beneficial to their childrens lives along with their families’.

The survey polled parents and their children in the UK on different aspects of their gaming experience. According to the survey parents scores have improved since last years survey in a few different areas. In areas of note are the awareness to parental controls which has improved to 73% and feeling that they are responsible for checking age ratings, which improved to 94%.

While this survey may show that more and more parents are aware to the age ratings and content of these video games, most parents don’t seem to worried about letting their children play games out of their age range.

Guitar Hero Greatest Hits Announced

IGN revealed today that Guitar Hero Greatest Hits is in the works. With the release of the full band modification in the last Guitar Hero, they went back and re-worked some of the greatest songs from past versions and are adding them to the Greatest Hits release.

Some songs you can expect to see are some of the greats such as “Them Bones” by Alice in Chains, “Killer Queen” by Queen, “Nothin’ But A Good Time” by Poison, and “Killing in the Name” by Rage Against The Machine just to name a few. All in all there will be 48 songs pulled from Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero II, Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s and Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.

Make sure you get your copy when Guitar Hero Greatest Hits come to stores in June 2009.

XBOX Live Gold Temporary Price Drop

Microsoft has announced that their XBOX Live Gold membership has descended in price for just over $4.00 a month. Microsoft states that this change is temporary, but it would be a speculation to see this temporary change turn into a full-time drop.

Blizzard Wants Your Input

As Blizzard puts the final touches on Diablo III they want your input for a Diablo II patch. Blizzard has posted on their forums asking anyone for some ideas that they would like to see implemented into Diablo II. While Blizzard will only implement one of the ideas given to them they still would like to see posts from everybody.

For you Diablo players out there, I suggest you head on over and see if Blizzard will want to use your idea for their Diablo II ver 1.13 patch. Some ideas Blizzard has currently received are things like Stat and Skill Respec and the Nerfing of some skills.
