Mancloud to Sub for coL.LoL This Weekend

May 28th, 2014

This weekend, compLexity League of Legends will be down a man as mid-laner Neil “pr0lly” Hammad tends to family obligations back home. However, there is no cause for alarm as the ever-popular Zachary “Mancloud” Allan Hoschar will be filling in temporarily.

Mancloud is the mid-laner for Curse Academy and is regarded as one of the best AP mid-laners in North America. He plays a diverse champion pool including Nidalee, Ryze, and Karthus. He is no beginner when it comes to the LCS stage, as he competed in the LCS Playoffs for Season 3 with Team Vulcun.

Danan “Kaniggit” Flander, the compLexity League of Legends General Manager had this to say:

It was actually a perfect accident type of situation. We were looking for an LCS-caliber mid-laner who was, first and foremost, nearby. Luckily, Zach was still living with us, albeit temporarily, in what used to be the XDG practice facility and gaming house. A second requirement was that we needed a player who wasn’t participating in the Coke Series on this same weekend because, due to LCS regulations, players cannot participate in both the Coke Series and the LCS within the same 72 hours. With that being said, Zach was our intended choice from the start and the cards fell into place perfectly being that Curse Academy doesn’t participate in the Coke Series again for an extra week after this substitution.

coL.LoL will be taking on both the Evil Geniuses (Saturday) and CLG (Sunday) this weekend. More information regarding this matches will become available later this week.

PG2: coL.cs vs Manajuma – CEVO Lower Bracket Finals

May 27th, 2014

by Sören ‘Fantasy’ Vendsahm

On Sunday a win from coL.LoL snapped their LCS losing streak for the first super week, and now it’s time for coL.cs to stop the bleeding and get back to their winning ways. After losses to iBUYPOWER and in a “meaningless” game against United5, the squad is looking for some positive results in the month leading up to ESEA Season 16 LAN. Now a spot in the Grand Finals of the CEVO Professional Season 4 is on the line – a title compLexity Gaming would like to defend.

Standing in their way is Manajuma, a squad that is coming in with momentum to carry them past one of the strongest teams in the North American region. Confidence is riding sky-high with a four-game winning streak reinforcing their belief in themselves – even ousting the praised NetcodeGuides. Those wins and that streak brought them to this consolidation finals, granting them a Top 3 placement with only the two elite NA teams left to battle.

Those different mindsets coming in will make for an interesting clash, and only one will earn the right to challenge iBUYPOWER for the CEVO crown. Will it be the team of NA superstars, lacking for momentum, or the new kids on the block with nothing to lose?. Will coL keep the dream of a title defense alive, or can Manajuma continue their surge to the top of the North American scene?

Find out tonight as coL.cs takes on Manajuma in a CEVO Professional Playoffs Bo3, streamed live at http://www.twitch.tv/playCEVO starting at 10:30 PM EST | 4:30 AM CEST.

coL.LoL vs LMQ & TSM – LCS Week 1

May 24th, 2014
compLexity 0-1 VS 1-0 LMQ

As we advance onto day two of the North American League of Legends Championship Series, our next opponent is full of familiar faces. We move on from our loss against Team Dignitas and look forward towards learning from our mistakes and applying what we have learned. Our next opponent is LMQ, who coL.LoL has faced in the past in the 2014 NA Challenger Series #1. In fact, coL.LoL faced off against LMQ in the Challenger Series #1 Finals. Unfortunately, coL.LoL lost against LMQ 2-0 in a best of 3. However, that was the past and coL.LoL is more experienced this time around.

LMQ is a team from China who was previously a sister team to Royal Club, the second place team at the Season 3 World Championship. They came to the United States in hopes of becoming an LCS team, qualifying through the Challenger Series which they dominated, placing 1st in both seasons. Afterwards, they defeated XDG Gaming in the Summer Promotion Tournament with a clean 3-0 sweep and made their way into the North American LCS. Now, coL.LoL is set to face LMQ in their second LCS game of the week, beginning at 4:00PM EST.

As coL.LoL continue their journey in the North American LCS, they go on to face Team Solomid in their 3rd game of the week and 2nd of the day. Team Solomid comes into this season as the 2nd place team from the spring split after falling to Cloud 9, who coL.LoL will face on Sunday. Team Solomid is one of the most successful and strongest teams in the NA LCS. They have strong lanes and two new players on their roster.

As Xpecial was removed from his position as support, Gleebglarbu has filled this role and will be facing off against coL.LoL in the bottom lane. In addition, theOddone has retired from competitive play and went on to be a coach while Amazing, a jungler from Europe takes over the role of the jungler for Team Solomid. We will have to see just how coL.LoL stack up against the second place spring split team. The match is set to begin at 6PM EST.

coL.LoL vs Team Dignitas – LCS Week 1

May 23rd, 2014
compLexity 0-0 VS 0-0 Team Dignitas

As we approach the first day of the LCS Summer Split, coL.LoL is set to face off against team Dignitas for their first opponent. As the 4th place team from the Spring Split, Team Dignitas went on to the Spring Playoffs ending in 5th place over their victory against Team Coast, the team who coL.LoL later beat in the Summer Promotion Tournament to earn their spot in the LCS. With several changes to the roster including ZionSpartan to the top lane, and Shiphtur to the mid lane of Team Dignitas, we do not know just how capable they are at performing well as a team. During the regular season of the Spring Split, Team Dignitas finished 12-16 (Win-Loss),  a 46% win rate.

In the jungle is Crumbzz, a player who has been on Dignitas for quite a while now. His favorite champion is Lee Sin, just like Brokenshard, so we will see if this is a top priority pick for both teams seeing that both players are exceptionally well with the champion. As we recall, Brokenshard stole two barons from Team Coast during the Summer Promotion Tournament, and those steals were crucial for their success. With Zionspartan and Shiphtur on the roster, coL.LoL will need to be careful since they are great players who can single handedly change the tides of the game and carry their team.

compLexity’s Back – NA LCS Preview Video

May 22nd, 2014

Heading into LCS tomorrow, Riot Games has released a video of coL.LoL’s match against Team Coast.

Facing the ultimate do-or-die, compLexity emerged victorious against Team Coast and claimed their LCS spot. With their inaugural game on the horizon, find out what the members of compLexity think about this whirlwind experience.

compLexity Player Spotlight – Ram “Brokenshard” Djemal

May 22nd, 2014

by Jorge “Caldo” Calderon

With the successful victory against Team Coast, the players of coL.LoL proved to the world that they are indeed LCS material. The team was formerly known as Determined Gaming before compLexity acquired the roster on February 7th, 2014. Since their relegation victory over Team Coast, the players have been focused on moving into a new team house and training hard for the LCS Summer Split. With their first LCS matches just days away join us in learning a bit more about the talented and interesting players of compLexity Gaming.

Ram “Brokenshard” Djemal is the 20-year-old Israeli jungler for compLexity Gaming. A veteran of the scene, Brokenshard has previously played with notable teams like TCM Gaming, DragonBorns, and Absolute Legends.Omega. With DragonBorns he qualified for the LCS Europe, but had to step down due to an illness, and was replaced by Malunoo. After joining compLexity Gaming, Ram has been instrumental to the team’s successes, including turning the tides against Team Coast with two Baron steals, and leading his team to victory on the back of stellar Lee Sin play.

Caldo: How long have you been playing League of Legends, and what brought you into the game? Secondly, what brought you into the competitive scene of League of Legends?

I started League in the very first beta, but after a few weeks I stopped playing it. I rejoined the game when Olaf was released due to a friend linking me the site saying “Hey, this game is essentially like DotA, go ahead and try it.” I got hooked.

After watching Dreamhack Season 1 Finals, I essentially knew I really wanted to play the game more and try to become pro, so after returning home from Sweden, I started taking the game way more seriously.

Brokenshard. compLexity. LCS.

Who was the first champion you ever played and what were your initial thoughts?

First champion I played when I came back to the game was Nasus. I liked the whole mechanic of stacking his Q, so I tried it. However, I played almost exclusively Katarina and Akali from levels 5-30, liking mainly the play style of roaming around and blowing people up.

Now that you are more experienced, who is your favorite champion and why?

Lee Sin is my favorite champion now. The champion has unlimited potential for playmaking, and is extremely entertaining to play.

Were you scared to take a chance like this – moving to North America to chase the dream of being a LCS player?

I wouldn’t say scared, but there was always doubt in my mind. It was a large risk and a very difficult task, and obviously moving to the US without any real secure future is going to be a bit scary, but I had confidence through the doubt that I would be able to make it.

What did you personally do to prepare yourself for Relegations?

I didn’t do anything for myself. I just trained with my team. Practiced hard in soloq, duoq, and scrims. Essentially, I made league the most important thing in my life coming into the relegations.

Going into the Relegation match against Team Coast, what was going through your head?

I knew that we had prepared as best we could, and it was all up to remembering our training and applying it. We were prepared physically for the game and mentally, I was confident but not too confident in our ability, and essentially we all knew our jobs and what we had to do playing the game. It’s a good feeling to be able to trust your teammates wholly coming into a match.

Did you feel as if you and your team had enough synergy with each other going into it?

Absolutely. We played on top of our game in that tournament, and with more practice theres no other way to go than up.

What did you guys do to celebrate your victory over Team Coast and making it into the LCS?

FOOD! We went to a place called Flemings and I had a $60 bone in rib eye. Then pr0lly and I went into the hotel, I snuggled up with him in a bed and we re-watched the games.

Now that you are in the NA LCS, what are you looking forward to the most?

Being able to play against the best teams in the region and prove that I am a competitive player who deserves to be in the LCS.

Which jungler do you look forward to facing off against the most and why?

Against Dexter and Amazing mostly. They were both players who, at a certain point in time in the past, I considered myself better than. Now, they have grown so much. I want to see where I stand among them.

What do you feel you need to improve on as a player?

I want to consistently be relevant in my games, I don’t want to have good and bad games.

How is the coL.LoL team house shaping up?

Team House is looking good. We got our PCs from CyberPower PC which are amazing machines, so we are getting good practice

What are your expectations for coL going into the Summer Split?

I have no expectations, I just want to play the game and do my best. If we practice hard and train hard, we should be able to succeed.

You’re from Israel. How large is eSports on that side of the world?

As far as League of Legends goes, it’s a pretty small community.

Who is your biggest supporter in chasing the eSports dream?

My mom, most likely. She helped me so much with the move to NA.

Does your family watch big matches? Do they understand the industry and the League professional scene?

My mom doesn’t watch but my little brother does. He plays League just like me and loves watching my games.

What are your thoughts on League of Legends eSports in the next 10 years?

If it keeps growing like this, it’ll probably be the largest in the world in 10 years.

What do you do on your off time, away from League of Legends?

It’s hard to have hobbies when a majority of my stuff is actually back at home, but I plan on bringing my electric guitar with me from Israel. Music was a huge passion for me before gaming, playing guitar and singing, so I hope to be able to play during my downtime.

What kind of music are you into?

Generally metal from the 80’s and 90’s and melodic metal/rock.

Have you ever been in a band?

Yes I was in several bands throughout high school.

What kind of music did you guys play exactly?

We were cover bands essentially, punk rock, some thrash metal, and some hard rock specifically from early 2000’s and late 90’s.

What were some of the names of the bands?

One of the band’s name was “The Big Bad Jews”.

Now that you are here in the United States, what is something you look forward to doing; visiting a certain place, eating certain food, touring, etc?

I guess it’s just being able to play the game I love. And eating In-n-Out!

Sources tell me that you are quite hilarious, can you give us a taste; maybe a joke related to League of Legends, or a funny experience you have had throughout your career?

If you like League of Legends puns, I got a Zilean of them.

Thanks for your time, Ram. Is there anyone you would like to thank before we close out the interview?

I’d like to shoutout to my fans first of all. Thanks for all your support. And then I’d like to thank compLexity and all our sponsors, Sound Blaster, CyberPower PC, Newegg, Creative, Twitch, L337 Gaming, DXRacer, Scuf Gaming, and PWNIT WEAR.

PG2: coL.cs vs iBuyPower – CEVO Professional Season 4

May 13th, 2014

On Monday the coL.cs team played their final regular season match in the ESEA Invite Season 16, advancing to the LAN finals, but today the next challenge awaits the team. Sean Gares, Hiko, and the rest of the boys will have their work cut out for them against former team member Swag, and his iBuyPower squad. This will not just be the most recent chapter in the struggle for North American supremacy, but a fight for a guaranteed spot in the Grand FInals of CEVO Professional Season 4.

As the CEVO Main defending champion, the boys of coL.cs are more than eager to defend their throne in the first season of CEVO Professional, while they also look for revenge for an upsetting loss at SoCal Revival #2 just two weeks ago. In the long night at the LAN, iBuyPower pushed the black and red team to the brink in the Upper Bracket Finals, only to then take the whole tournament with with a comeback in the Grand Finals. As of now iBP is on top of the North American scene, and coL is still looking for an important statement win.

Now the next chance presents itself in a best-of-three contest against their rivals, a match in which captain Sean Gares sees coL.cs having the edge. Back in Southern California he pointed out that he believes coL should be the favorite in matches longer than just one map. Can he back up his words today and avenge the recent stinging loss, or will iBuyPower once more put a stop to the resurgence of compLexity?

coL.LoL Welcomes Kaniggit as General Manager

May 8th, 2014

The compLexity Gaming family would like to announce that Danan “Kaniggit” Flander will be joining coL.LoL as their General Manager. Danan will be responsible for day to day operation of the team, from housing to exercise regimens and time management.

Danan “Kaniggit” Flander started as a player, participating in the early days of Go4LoLs before slowing down to pursue a Bachelors in Computer Science degree at the University of Iowa. In his spare time he assisted 4Nothing Gaming before ultimately stepping into their General Manager position. After roster shakeups, including the loss of midlaner PR0LLY (now compLexity), he left 4Not and found himself working for Pulse eSports managing players like Sneakycastroo (later of Cloud 9), Evaniskus (later of Velocity), and Daydreamin (later of Coast). After a losing the original LCS qualifying event, Kaniggit and the Pulse roster transitioned into Team Dignitas’ B roster, qualifying for the next LCS qualifier, but not attending due to the team’s swift disbanding.

After a short break away from the scene, he returned to assist Gold Gaming LA in forming a Challenger roster, with its core centered around future Curse toplaner Quas. Shortly thereafter the roster was dumped by ggLA, allowing Kaniggit to establish The Walking Zed, with notable players like Yazuki (formerly of Cloud 9), Bischu (formerly of Alienware). After another failed LCS promotion event, Kaniggit took twz under Cloud 9’s wing, forming Cloud 9 Tempest. Along with this Kaniggit picked up a new botlane consisting of teenage allstar Altec as AD and Gleebglarbu (now of Team Solomid) as support. After yet another failed LCS promotion event with Cloud 9 Tempest, Kaniggit now rejoins PR0LLY and the rest of the Complexity Gaming roster as they enter the LCS.

In addition to Kaniggit, we’d like to welcome Kublai “Kubz” Barlas who will be officially joining as their coach, providing analysis for the team during the LCS season.

Join us in welcoming both Kublai “Kubz” Barlas and Danan “Kaniggit” Flander to the family!

PG2: coL.cs vs NetcodeGuides

May 7th, 2014

by Sören ‘Fantasy’ Vendsahm

After a long weekend at the SoCal Revival LAN, coL.cs is back in the comfort of their own homes and ready for the next big event – the CEVO Professional Season 4 Playoffs. Despite a small setback on LAN just a few nights ago, the coL boys have their eyes on the prize, with a deep playoff run at the forefront of their minds. Additionally, with the squad only one win away from a potential rematch against rival iBuyPower, sweet revenge may be another motivating factor for success.

Before that possible clash, the boys in black will have to focus their attention on tonight’s challenge – a best-of-three against NetcodeGuides. The team holding the #2 seed after the eight week regular season is poised to once more upset the powerhouse coL.cs squad, while on the other side compLexity is determined to show they can beat Netcode, after a loss to the team in ESEA Invite just two weeks ago. If coL.cs can play anything like they did in last week’s CEVO Playoffs match against United5, they will be in a great spot to advance further into the winner’s bracket.

A spot in the upper bracket finals awaits the winners, while a detour through the dreaded lower bracket is in store for the loser. Find out if compLexity Gaming can overcome the higher seed, and march into another instant classic in the ongoing struggle for North American supremacy.
